I should really wash my hair

This is my attempt to combine my drawing illustrative style with my painting style. Looking back, I prefer the work in progress of the feather girl to the finished piece. I like how it turned out, but i think I was a little afraid to leave it looking so 'unfinished'.

Oil and graphite on some particleboard wood. I'm pretty sure it's done, for now. But I may end up tweaking it when we get back.

Joe and I are going to Encinitas (San Diego) tomorrow to stay with my parents for a few days. He's itching to get back on that surfboard! I never really had the surfing 'itch', even though i've lived near the beach my entire life. I prefer to play around in the waves and make sand castles, though they always end up really lumpy and crooked, and I always get sunburnt. I suppose the beaches in San Francisco are still is pretty close, seeing as the city is basically only 7 x 7 miles, but the beaches are usually cloudy, cold and have dead seals.

Also, Joe just started a music/other things blog. He's got a wicked cool taste in music, definitely go check it out if you need some new tunes in your life :)

Any San Francisco kids out there? Tonight is Sketch Tuesday's at 111 Minna gallery, in SoMa. I'm probably going to go. It was a blast last time, just did some little drawings and posted them up on the board and ended up selling a few. It's a cool atmosphere, with some really great artists participating.

Alright, I'll be back monday! Though I may post while we're away. I have like three paintings I've started and can't wait to finish them!

Lizzy With War Paint and a Small Yellow Bow

Finished! Miss Lizzy and her pretty orangy hair.

Work in progress shots:

Somewhere along the lines I didn't like the blue background so i started to paint it yellow. Then i decided i liked the contrast of her hair and the light blue.

Lizzy, W.I.P

I'm like a little factory over here. Another oil painting on some sort of wood. A portrait of Lizzy Anne Henry, she'll knock your socks off with some amazing vegan treats!

I have about 5 pieces of the same wood, same size, so I'm starting to do a series. I'll probably end up putting bows in her hair or something. She looks cute with ribbons in her hair.

i love you!

A Girl With Three Feathers

Here she is, all done.
10" x 10" oil on wood. The computer really can't pick up color properly, but you get the idea.

Process shots..

another work in progress piece

Just a little something I started today. We'll see where this one ends up! expect feathers and triangles, as usual. So far it's graphite on some sort of wood + oil paint. I put fixative on top of the pencil before I started painting.

Work in Progress

My show at 666 Gallery is coming up soon, here is a preview of one of the pieces I'm working on for the show.

Another Deer Wearing Gym Socks!

It's mostly done, I just need something more in the top portion of the piece. I sold my original illustration, so I'm doing a new one with the same concept, but in a different style. Hooray for triangles!
Acrylic paint and Indian Ink on the deer. The grass is gouache.

Hello world!

Alright, I've done it. I've gone and got myself a little bloggy to blog on. It's long overdue but I gotta start somewhere!
Originally I decided to start a blog of my dreams, because annoyingly, I dream every single night, and I think some of them are interesting and would make for some weird stories/artwork. I'm using this as some sort of means of motivation. Assuming I remember my nightly adventures in Sleepland, you will see them here, perhaps with some illustrations to accompany it.

In the meantime, I finally updated my website, still a few things to add but it's mostly done.
If you're bored, go and take a look, I wont mind ;)

And! Here are some pictures from recent adventures in the Bay Area:

Kayaking in Gualala (about three hours north of San Francisco)

Popsicles in the park!
