butterflies and naked ladies

She's so tuff, even her tattoo has a tattoo.  No, but seriously, she's just trying to figure you out.
And I'm just trying to figure out where I can get a bathing suit like hers.

--
I'm going to be ordering some prints within the next few days. Any requests for prints that aren't currently in my shop? (You can see the full collection of my work on my website). I've sold out of Boat Shoulders, so I'll definitely be getting some more of those.
Let me know.

red nail polish

I got red nail polish yesterday. It makes typing fun and pretty.

Here's a song for you. It's so beautiful it makes me hurt a little.
Memoryhouse: Lately (Troisieme)

BUNNY EYE

Remake of an older drawing. I guess this one is a little more 'grown-up', with the naked ladies and all.
This is the original. I was looking at it the other day and I decided that I miss my messy drawings. They're satisfyingly free.

Also, if you can read German, there's a little ditty about me in this month's U-Mag.
You can download the PDF here.

flowers and a teapot

TEAPOT!
I think I've decided to leave it black and white, although I do like the idea of a pale green teapot and light yellow flowers. What do you think?

And thanks for the feature, 40fakes!

nautical ladies

watercolor, gouache & india ink
Here are some Aquatic Siamiese-Haired Mermaid girls for you. Another from the series of pissed-off ladies. They probably don't like the fact that I give them crooked teeth and heavy eyelashes.

Anyway, how are you this morning? (Or I suppose it's afternoon now? When did this happen) Are you enjoying the rain? Our wisteria flowers are still blooming and they smell so sweet mixed with the rain. I'm drinking mango black tea with cream, honey and some vanilla. It's like, ridiculously delicious. The last inch or so is always the sweetest, so it's a little syrupy at the moment. And on another note, I brought home some chocolate with pop rocks for Joe (ok, and me). SO GOOD.

shrunken heads

Rainy morning. Goes well with a cup of tea :)

Here are a few tidbits from my time in San Diego. Alright, now I got to get to work!

Urban Outfitters + Morgan

Hello my dears, hope you're having a lovely Wednesday! It's sunny and beautiful in Encinitas right now (but a tad bit too chilly for the beach). I have some exciting news! Urban Outfitters is now selling my print of a Deer Wearing Gym Socks!
It's for sale here

----------

And on another note..
My dear friend Morgan wrote a super sweet blog post about our 18-year long friendship. She's a kickass oboe player, singer and fantastic human being. She also has a radio show Wednesdays at 3pm over at Chapman University. Every week she has a theme for her playlist, this weeks is around the topic of friendship. She explains it much more eloquently in her blog. Go read it. And go listen to it. I'll be joining her in the studio. Expect awkward sidenotes from me.
(Tune in here at 3pm TODAY)

But first, enjoy this photo of us in our prime. Sophomore year of high school, I believe.
And yes, I wearing far too much eyeliner and am sporting Converse under my gown, why do you ask? ;)

------

This is one of those pictures I'll treasure for a long time. Kind of captures us perfectly. I definitely look forward to our silly videochat sessions. Oh, and she made me a cupcake for my birthday. (And if I may quote weezer for a moment)  "HOW COOL IS THAT?!"
Alright. bye.

Ella + Rain + Waves

Currently listening to Ella Fitzgerald, rain falling on leaves and the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Needless to say, I'm a happy bug.

I'm home visiting my parents for the week in Encinitas. I'm all cozy in my brothers little studio while he's out traveling the world with his lady. (And I also get to use his laptop. Yes please.)
I was fortunate enough to sit next to a fellow Lost-head on the plane. We basically talked Lost the entire flight. Apologies if you were on my flight and had to witness this. muahahaha

Anyway, sometimes I forget how lovely it is here. Definitely looking forward to walks on the beach with mom and nerdy computer and iphone app sessions with my pop. But not looking forward to missing my boo, lucky boy gets to go to Coachella this weekend!
---
Here's a little preview of a nautical-themed drawing I'm working on.
(No scanner in here, pardon the shoddy Photobooth pic)

Until next time my sweets!

Reed + Rader

A while back I stumbled upon the work of photographers Pamela Reed and Matthew Rader.
They make me feel like I'm dreaming. And  I'm kind of obsessed with their brains.
Here are a few of my favorites (and goodness, there are so many amazing ones to choose from) :

Jens Lekman

I drew this silly little picture of Jens Lekman a while ago. It wasn't finished when I left it, but if I don't touch a piece for over a week that generally means it's done. So here you go.
(hope he likes it)

Ahh, Swedish pop!
"Yeah I got busted, I painted a dirty word on your Old Man's Mercedes Benz cause you told me to do it"
Oh Jens, please don't ever stop writing music.

Birds in birds

I've had a really difficult time being productive this week. I feel like it's "artis's block" but without the lack of inspiration. I have plenty of ideas and images in my mind, I'm just having trouble with the follow-through part. I"m sure you can relate? If i didn't throw away all my nonsense drawings I'd consider showing them to you. Well, here are some doodled birds to make me feel like I've accomplished something.

Anyway, I'm going home to visit my parents next week, I'm hoping the sunshine and salty sea air will help!

Also, here is one photo from the other night. I feel like this looks like an album cover or something.

lace & black part two

The other night my  friends and I had a fun little collab photo shoot session. Our original intent was to be vampires, but instead we were just vampy. (Thanks to Eugene for being an amazing photographer, we would have had a really difficult time using the self-timer. Bad news. )
P.S. my friends are gorgeous

Juliette & Lizzy

hot damn!

black and lace

Just a little taste for now. Waiting on some more rolls of film to get developed.
