Drawings, sneak peek, madness

Hello dears

Perhaps you've heard of the madness that ensued last night. What a glorious city to be in right now! After 46 years the San Francisco Giants finally won the world series. Honestly, I haven't cared about baseball in a really long time, not since I was little and liked watching the Padres, but the past while has been incredible. Some nights I wouldn't even be watching the games and I could hear my neighborhood erupt in cheers every time someone got a run. And last night was absolutely insane. Thousands of people out in the streets celebrating, crying, lighting mattresses on fire, dancing on firetrucks.. (I expect it was a little difficult to be a city official tonight)

Anyway, it's hard not to get all emotional when your entire city is ecstatic. I don't expect the celebrating to end any time soon. Ha.

Anyway, on a completely separate another note, here is a sneak peek of the painting I'm working on right now. Only just started it, can't wait for you to meet her.

Also, here are a couple of drawing/paintings I did for an upcoming show at 323 East. Doing a few small, affordable pieces for their holiday show. These are both made with india ink & gold leaf. Will be doing a few more for this little grouping.

And finally, today is my honeypie's birthday! Happy Birthday joeyloveybabycakes! (sorry. gross)
(us two years ago when we first started dating. I look so little!)

That's it, have a fantastic Tuesday

rainbows and raspberries

Hello dears. I hope your weekend was lovely!
Somehow San Francisco decided to be warm and rainy simultaneously today.  It was sunny with the occasional episodes of mist. The sun played tricks on the me and made the tiny rain drops look suspiciously like snow as it floated down onto our backs. It was perfect rainbow-making weather! We had a peaceful afternoon lounging at Dolores Park, where we did, in fact, see a rainbow! He, reading Bukowski and me daydreaming about ships and pirates while sipping on raspberry beer. Sometimes life is magical.
// I've been going through a little witchy phase lately, stripes, black and lace. Sort of channeling Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice. //

Anyway, Boat Shoulders is coming along nicely. I expect it'll be finished tomorrow, just minor detailing left to do. I'm quite proud of how she turned out. I will be making prints of her and hopefully they'll be in my shop by next week.
And now all I want to do is paint boats all the time. Oh dear..

photo time

To make up for my lack of blogging, here are some pictures for you. Most are nonsense.
My life as of late has consisted of:

blond streaks

park days

cocoa powder warpaint / painting bedrooms

art shows

little kisses and homemade haircuts

Outside Lands / My Morning Jacket

breakfast with sleepy eyes

long witchy skirts

skinny slacks

more morgan

and so far, only two days of summer. The heatwave left as quickly as it came, and yesterday I was back to eating ice cream with gloves on. Silly, silly city.
(oh, but how I love you, San Francisco)

xoxo

Doggies + Alaska sneak peak

Apparently we really like taking pictures of and with dogs.

I swear I'm being productive and not just prancing around and playing with dogs all day! I am currently working on the state of Alaska, see look, here's a little sneak peek:

It'll probably end up being completely different than that, but it's a start. That's why I Photoshop.

Here are some photos for you.

Bay to Breakers. AKA drunken nude/costume fest. God, this city is amazing.

Cavewoman and... a gothic hooker? Whatever. I love lace.

The always stunning Juliette. Especially when she's testing which way the wind blows.

Well, I hope you're enjoying your week! I am, but I think I've forgotten what the sun looks like. Come on, San Francisco, as much as I love you, please warm up already. It's almost June.

Oh, I almost forgot:

Some new additions to the shop; birds, vampires and deer (oh my!)

And now, we must tidy up our apartment, we're playing Monopoly tonight with some lovely friends of ours. (I'm a bit of a board game fiend. )

Love,
Charmaine

SF pics part 2

Some more little Konica pictures. My bestie is coming up to visit for a few days so I probably wont have many drawings to share with you this week, but plenty of photos!

MINK LOVE.

Me and my boo. Notice the splotch on my shoulder? Yep, a slug was there. F-ing disgusting.

SF Pictures

I got this little Konica camera at a thrift store the other day, and Joe and I have been having fun playing around with it.  I must say, I am quite impressed with it. Best $3.99 I've ever spent ;)

A sunny afternoon at Dolores Park. Just eating a lollipop and taking a break from Scrabble.

How amazing is this trunk?! (And when did my hair get so dark?)
--

This game was amazing.  Apparently it's called "Bananagrams" but we modified it a bit. (okay, completely changed it). Here are the rules. All tiles face down, one a time you pick up a tile and try and guess the letter! Didn't guess right? Take a drink. (Worst drinking game ever, but highly entertaining).

In case you didn't know. I'm a LOST fanatic. I seriously look forward to Tuesdays like a kid anticipates Christmas. I was about to go on a Lost rant about how much I loved last weeks episode, but I stopped myself. You're welcome.

Sun

Oh Spring, I have missed you.
Now it's time for sunny bike rides, strange ice cream adventures, scrabble in the park, hikes to the lake, sunny naps in the patio, wisteria blossoms,  & endless cups of horchata.

When Life Hands You Lemons, Eat a Miracle Berry

For my birthday party this weekend we had a Flavor Tripping party! Perhaps you've heard of the Miracle Fruit before? It's a little red berry that when eaten, makes sour and bitter things taste sweet! And boy, did it work. I ordered some Miracle Berry in tablet form via ThinkGeek.com. What you do is let the tablet dissolve in your mouth and coat your entire tongue with it. Then for about 20-40 minutes after, everything sour or bitter that you eat will taste radically different. I wont go into the scientific details of it, but I will tell you how delicious it is.
• Lemons and limes tasted like candy, super sweet and delicious.

• Sour cream. Oh my goodness, Sour Cream! My personal favorite. It was like a honey sweet creamy yogurty sauce. It's hard to exactly pinpoint what it tasted like, but dipping granny smith apples in it was highly addicting. Goat cheese was also a hit, especially with apple.

• Grapefruits were interesting, the bitterness was gone, and all that was left was a bland grapefruit-esque taste. (Not recommended).

• Dark beers like Guinness and Imperial Stout almost tasted like coffee. And with a dallop of lemon sorbet? A mocha shake! Mmmm!

• Some other things that were sampled: hot sauce, chocolate, pepperjack cheese, olives, wine, pickles, blueberries, strawberries, gorgonzola, capers, bananas, balsalmic vinegar, vodka and one brave soul sampled EVERYTHING in our fridge. eww.

• My favorite combination: lemon dipped in sour cream, balsalmic vinegar and cumin. Sound disgusting? Just wait until you try it.
It was such a hit that we're proably going to have another one next month when my best friend comes to visit :)

Here are some pictures from the past month.

mm!

Pepperjack cheese, hot sauce, chocolate and lemon sandwhich.

Just drinking some Crystal hot sauce, no big deal.

My friend got me some Bumpits™ for my birthday. hahaha. hilarious.
